Installing an outdoor lighting system on your property is a great way for you to be able to illuminate your outdoor living space at night so you can continue to enjoy it after the sun has set. When it comes to outdoor lighting systems, the two most popular bulbs that are used in them are LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs. So, which type of bulb is better? The answer to that question is easy, LED bulbs are the better option, and it's not even close! That's because LED bulbs are safer since they don't generate much heat, they last much longer, and they are way more energy efficient than their incandescent counterpart. What's more, LED bulbs are able to handle cold weather better than incandescent lights, which is very important due to the cold weather we face here in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

LED bulbs are much safer than incandescent bulbs.

LED bulbs are much safer to use than incandescent bulbs because they produce less heat. In fact, LED bulbs generate almost no heat at all and they are cool to the touch even when they are turned on! That's because most of the energy they produce goes into producing light. On the flip side, incandescent bulbs use most of their energy to produce heat, so they can become very hot, and if you were to touch them while they are on, they can burn you!

What's more, LED bulbs are usually encased in epoxy lenses or plastic, so they are much less likely to break. On the other hand, incandescent lights are encased in glass, so they are much more likely to break. And if they do, you'll have to deal with broken glass on your property.

When it comes to longevity, LED bulbs blow incandescent bulbs out of the water! Incandescent bulbs have a lifespan in the neighborhood of 750 hours while LED bulbs can last for up to 50,000 hours or so. If you were to use incandescent bulbs in your outdoor lighting system, you would have to change them out fairly regularly. When it comes to LED bulbs, they can last for 5 years or even longer depending on how often you use them.

LED bulbs don't contain any mercury!

LED bulbs are more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs.

One of the biggest benefits of LED light bulbs is that they are very energy efficient. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, LED bulbs use roughly 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs. So, if you use LED bulbs for your outdoor lighting system, you can expect that your energy bill will be much less than what it would have been if that same system was comprised of incandescent bulbs.

LED bulbs can handle cold weather better than incandescent bulbs.

One of the many great things about LED bulbs is that they can stand up to cold weather. So, if you use LED bulbs for your lighting system, you won't have to worry about them failing when the temperatures dip. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about incandescent bulbs, and they could stop working if the temperatures get too low.
